Anticipation

Today I prepare to go to the Monet In Normandy show in Raleigh with 2 artist friends. I am excited to have the opportunity to be able to see the brushwork, the actual colors, of the master himself. I love the energy, the Joie de Vivre of his work. I am so grateful! I hope the spirit of Monet will swoop down and provide inspiration and fresh energy!

A Little Fear

Today has been another good day. Been doing computer work, necessary but I'd rather be in front of a new canvas, and if all goes well I will be tomorrow. It is exciting to begin work on a new piece, and a little frightening. What if I forget all my years have taught me? What if I use the wrong colors, wrong comp?
Art teaches me, among other things, to dig deep, go out on that limb once again. that is risk, that is living.

Thankfulness

It's Thanksgiving!
Finally the cold rain has given way to sunshine, which seems brighter than normal. Funny, seems it's so easy to forget how beautiful the sun is, until it reappears. The leaves look like jewels, and even the wind seems more bearable.
The smell of food cooking is filling the house, beloved family are on their way. Thankfully, too, I have art to create, and even more amazing a few who seem to want it!
I am truly thankful.

number one

Ok, my first post, for whatever it's worth! Entering a new cyberspace vista can be daunting . . . but now I feel officially a part of the bigger picture!
A few things I'm thankful for on Thanksgiving eve:

Unexpected snow (life is exciting and unpredictable)
dogs that lay warm in your lap
old, comfortable friends
sacrifice from ages ago that make my life possible today
smoke from a chimney

What makes you thankful?
